What is “Stomp
Across Arizona? The “Stomp Across Arizona” is the
brainchild of Pat Kuykendall, a life-long resident of Prescott, retired
Army National Guard First Sergeant and President of the Good gun Foundation’s
Prescott Chapter. Pat has a long track record of using his tireless energy
to the benefit of his community, his state and his country. By “Stomping”
his way along miles of Arizona’s roads, Pat hopes to call attention
and raise money for three of his favorite non-profit organizations:
“Busted” – Students Against Drugs Program –
to establish a fund in support of Yavapai County’s Methamphetamine
Advisory Task Force whose mission is to substantially reduce the manufacture,
availability and use of methamphetamine and its impact on victims within
Yavapai County. This new fund would create a reward system, similar to
a “Silent Witness” program, for students providing information
about methamphetamine and cocaine dealers at the county’s schools.
Arizona National Guard Emergency Relief Fund –
A Non-profit relief fund that provides emergency financial assistance
to National Guard Soldiers and their families in times of distress. This
is the Arizona National Guards own financial assistance organization,
funded strictly by donations and is dedicated to “Helping the National
Guard Take Care of its own.”
Shop-with-a-Cop – A program of Tri-Cities law enforcement
agencies to provide underprivileged children much needed essentials and
gifts at Christmas. This program not only supports the children with physical
goods, but also promotes a feeling of importance and appreciation for
law enforcement.
Why? Pat respects the work of the many fund-raising organizations
that raise money for their own and others noble causes, but often wondered
how much of the contributions collected actually go to help the proclaimed
beneficiaries. As a board member and chapter president with the Good Gun
Foundation, knowing the organization’s history of giving and the
fact there is no paid staff, Pat knew that by utilizing the organization
and his own energy he could not only increase funding for his favorite
organizations, but make sure 100% of the funds raised would go to the
intended causes.
When and where: The start of the event will be at the
Antelope Hills Inn at the Airport Center of Saturday morning July 28th
at 6:00 am. Pat Kuykendall will begin his stomp north on Hwy 89, his goal
for the inaugural weekend will be to reach the metropolis of Ash Fork.
Pat will continue his stomp at various times and places to be announced,
until the “Stomp” finishes up with him pounding his boots
into the Antelope Hills Golf Course clubhouse for the 6:30 pm Good Gun
Foundation dinner meeting on Dec 5th.
